Microsoft word for mac os x 10.5.8 free download. Aug 16, 2018 Save As Word 97 doesn't help. I have to restart Word to get the Save As menu to show up. I can save the file by overwriting one particular file before I restart word, but i messes up my format. The only way to fix the format I found was to copy the text to another file already formatted the way I want it. This is a real headscratcher. I've been battling this issue all day yesterday with our Office 365 partner, without solution. Let's begin with the symptoms: - Excel crashes 7 out of 10 times when saving to a network share on the Synology DS1515+ NAS with latest updates. The crash corrupts the excel files but leave behind a.TMP file from which we can recover the excel file. - Also happens with Sketchup Pro 2017 for one user - Happens only on Windows 10, not Windows 7 - All computers have Excel 2016 installed with latest updates - We had disabled all non-essential group policies. - We had removed computers from the domain. - We tested with both local and domain users. - We tried on other physical networks outside the office. - We tested affected user accounts on unaffected computers. This confirmed the user accounts are not the issue. - Excel DOESN'T crash when saving to desktop (redirected to Windows server) or other local disk. With all of the above, the issue is still happening. Right now I have one computer that was very troublesome yesterday and this morning. Yet currently it works perfectly. Other users in the building still have this issue. This is giving me headache. Who has the golden solution for us? Mckrin wrote: I fixed it by going to Windows features and checking SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support and restart. If I unchecks it, problem reappears. Hopefully there's a real fix, turning on SMB 1 makes me uncomfortable. Hello Mckrin, you hit the jackpot there! This workaround worked for us. Problems are resolved by enabling CMB 1.0/CiFS again. We have reported this to Synology developers. They have investigated the issue and will provide a fix in the next release of DSM. That will be 6.1.5. After consulted with developer team, they give more detail info: After update 1709, smb1.0 will be removed, and this will hit one of another NAS issue, NAS will think we are negotiate with MacOSX, so didn't provide an info which MS office need, we think it is the root cause MS Office crashed. Base on that, we file another bug, and it is plan to fix in DSM6.1.5 the next version, the workaround is just like you do, or we can help to change code on your NAS to get rid of this issue. Scottcurtis wrote: I had some issues with Win 10 and Office 2016 where an excel file always failed to save, later resolved this by disabling Sync/ Offline files component of windows? @scottcurtis that is interesting. We are using folder redirection with offline files on all computers. Offline files is not enabled on the Synology shares. Strange if that is the solution. @nihal, @dennis78, thanks. Keep it coming. We are investigating all possible solutions. Disabling hardware graphics acceleration didn't solve it. Oldsmobile_Mike wrote: Did it work previously and then suddenly stop working? Or has it never worked? Has something changed on the PC's recently that could be causing the issue? (for example, updated 1709 security settings) All affected computers have in common that they where updated to Windows 10 1709 in the same week. The problems started after these updated. We also updated Kaspersky Internet Security from 2017 to 2018. Yet the issue happens also on a test VM which doesn't have Kaspersky installed. I rule that out. @David McDonnell, thanks for the link. It is not a folder plus file name length issue. It happens also in the root of the share, with very short file names. Another symptom though: On SOME computers, explorer may crash when doing a right click => new excel workbook. Today we have troubleshooted the entire day. First 6 hours with Synology developer. Hats off to him for doing everything he can. Then with Microsoft support.
